Served as the Assistant Teacher for a nature-based classroom. Provided the 3-5 year old students opportunities to engage with the materials and each other in hands-on and experience-based learning through both planned activities and spontaneous, nature and interest-based learning opportunities. Instructed a NGSS and Common-Core curriculum to students in fourth through fifth grades over the course of four days. Using an interleaving of Science, Art, Environmental Justice and more, students learn observational inquiry practices, community and team building, and how to be good stewards to different environments and to each other. As part of a part time job, makes sure to check in with supervisors in multiple departments on what they need during the week and completes necessary tasks. Ensures that tasks are done within a timely fashion, with a through quality work.

Lead Teacher (February 2017- August 2017)
Was a pioneer teacher in a first year Outdoor Preschool program located in Carkeek Park for a four hour morning and three hour afternoon class for children ages three to five years old. Designed developed, and taught multi-disciplinary learning through small group, large group activities, and free choice activities. Lessons, activities, and learning were designed by using High Scope curriculum and catering that curriculum to meet learning students’ needs and interests. Student learning and progress was tracked through Teaching Strategies Gold, and curriculum was modified and adjusted to benefit both individuals and class needs. Kept healthy and fruitful parent and teacher relationships by maintaining and managing the classroom email, the classroom Facebook page, and sending out a weekly newsletter of learning domains met and exciting things to come. Mentored two volunteer High School students who served as helping teachers to the classroom and worked with them on aspects of student behavior management, classroom expectations, and how to scaffold learning and playing experiences.

Served as a Float Teacher for a Piaget and Montessori based classrooms from 15 month olds to Pre-K Classroom, assisting fellow co-workers and students with daily tasks inside and outside of the classroom. Showed reliability and competence as a teacher and worker and was officially promoted as a Co-Lead Teacher and placed in a Pre-K room. Taught and developed lessons for four to five year olds covering topics such as Writing, Math, Social Science, and STEAM domains. Provided students opportunities to engage with the materials and each other in hands-on and experience-based learning through both curriculum-based situations and spontaneous, nature and interest-based learning opportunities. Provoked and expanded student understanding of lessons and situations with open-ended questioning and collaborative learning experiences.
